    Fellowship Update: Welcome to HerHeadquarters!

    July 16th, 2019  |

This time a year ago, HerHeadquarters was only in its design stage. I remember meetings, emails, and calls discussing the smallest details like which shade of blue to use and which icons would be clearer. Here we are, a year later, with a launched platform in four major cities - Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, and Omaha.  While so much has happened in the past 12 months, these last 6 weeks...

    Women Innovators Fellowship Showcase

    July 8th, 2019  |

Last year, Do Space issued a challenge to the community: Omaha women are underrepresented in technical roles, and they are underrepresented in business. What's your big idea to change Omaha for the better? The 2019 Do Space Women Innovators Fellowship is a competitive, 6-month experience that has challenged three Fellows to develop new resources and tools to promote the advancement of women...

Fellowship Update: Remoter.Tech Coming Summer 2019

    June 27th, 2019  |

Since my last post, I’ve been interviewing women in the tech industry for the upcoming launch of Remoter.tech, a resource website and job board that I am building for the wider Omaha community through my Do Space Women Innovators Fellowship project. It has been a refreshing opportunity to connect with women who are doing amazing things in their industries.  I recently interviewed Joanna...

    Fellowship Update: Expanding the Call

    May 31st, 2019  |

Being a part of the Do Space Women Innovators Fellowship Program has been such a rewarding experience. Speaking to women about their stories and how they chose their majors has been eye-opening -- and I’m excited to share my results with the Do Space community at the August 3rd Fellowship Showcase. I’m grateful to the folks who I have gotten to talk to already. We have a lot of amazing women...

    Fellowship Update: Connecting Women Entrepreneurs

    April 24th, 2019  |

Too many women entrepreneurs experience challenges as a result of doing it all alone. The women’s empowerment movement encourages us to ‘collaborate over compete’ and to lift each other up, but the path to collaboration is not always clear.  As a woman entrepreneur, I was all too familiar with this problem. I soon found out that I wasn’t alone in experiencing the time-consuming and...

    Fellowship Update: Introducing Remoter.Tech

    March 25th, 2019  |

Remote or flex work – the ability to work from home, outside a traditional 9-5 office setting, is one of the primary benefits sought after by tech workers today.  Yet companies are slow to change their structure in order to incorporate remote work. While we wait for industries to shift, what can we do to connect tech talent with companies that need help and are willing to hire remote...

Fellowship Update: Closing the Tech Gap

    March 7th, 2019  |

I’m beyond excited to get to work on my project for the Women Innovators Fellowship! Research is a fascinating adventure where I get to learn about new topics, help solve problems, and present what I find in a way that is meaningful and motivating. I want to give a special shout out to the folks who have helped me develop my research skills along the way. I appreciate your time, support, and...

    3D Printing a Life-Sized R2D2

    August 29th, 2018  |

Some time ago, I’d decided that I wanted my own small R2D2 that I could create on a 3D printer.  While searching I stumbled upon Baddeley’s free full-sized 3D printed R2D2 designs on Thingiverse.  He'd broken down R2D2 into parts that would easily fit on a standard 3D printer and require no supports.  Also, his entire project was modeled in Fusion 360 which I’ve mentioned here...

Learning about technology as an intern at Do Space

    August 7th, 2018  |

Interning with Do Space has been a great experience and I am so happy to have had the opportunity thanks to the Girls Inc. College Bound Eureka Program. Girls who are in the Eureka program start preparing for college in seventh grade and this is my last year with the externship program. Last year, I interned with Charles Drew Health Clinic but this year I wanted to go in a different direction...
