Technology

Do Space has a range of technology available for take-home and in-building use. Right now, you are looking at all of the tech available. For specific types of tech, choose from the menu on the left. For more details regarding the booking and using 3D Lab equipment, click “expand” below.

Do Space offers the Omaha community access to new and emerging technologies such as 3D printers and laser cutters to inspire a new interest in design and help the community bring their creations to life. 3D technologies can be used for crafting, prototyping, and a host of other applications for hobbyists and professionals alike. 3D Lab equipment is free to use for Do Space members and can be reserved online. Staff and volunteers are available to assist in the basic use of the equipment as time/staffing allows. Those needing extended one-on-one assistance are encouraged to submit a mentor request. Do Space also offers regular classes on the different technologies available in the 3D Lab.

USE OF EQUIPMENT

Do Space’s equipment is intended for educational purposes and prototyping, not mass production. Staff reserves the right to refuse any print request. The public will not be permitted to use Do Space’s equipment to create or manipulate objects that are:

  • Weaponry or parts of weaponry of any kind.
  • Prohibited by local, state, or federal law.
  • Unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others.
  • Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the Do Space environment.

Members using equipment are to be present while the equipment is running. Do Space is not responsible for any jobs or materials left behind.

Do Space members may request an advance equipment reservation for the equipment listed below. Equipment is available in designated time blocks to ensure all members have access to the equipment. Before using the equipment, members must have a signed Borrower Agreement and Liability Waiver.

MATERIALS

Except for the 3D printers, members will need to supply their own materials to be used with the 3D Lab equipment, and materials must adhere to the approved materials list posted in the lab. Members may use their 3D Printer filament (subject to staff approval) or purchase filament from Do Space.

An online materials library is available for the laser cutters for your reference, along with our materials one-sheet. Please note that our machine does not cut metal.
