I recently sat down with Do Space Technologist Robert McCown, who is a board member of the Lincoln, Nebraska-area Maker’s Group MakeShift (http://makeshiftlincoln.org/), to talk about his group and what they plan to show at our upcoming Mini-Maker Faire on April 15th.
Q: Tell us about your group!
A: MakeShift is a non-profit makerspace in Lincoln, NE. We’re a community hub for creation and learning, a gathering point for makers, tinkerers, and DIY’ers. While our space is currently under construction, our meetings are held at the Turbine Flats Project 2124 Y St., Lincoln, NE.
Q: When do you meet, and what do you make?
A: We usually hold meetings on Monday nights that consist of show-and-tell, working on projects, teaching, and learning. Our members have a variety of skills and interests including 3D printers, metal fabrication, homemade unicycles, prop making, Arduino and much more.
Q: What will you have on display at the Omaha Mini Maker Faire?
A: For the Omaha Mini Maker Faire we’ll be showing a couple of examples of projects our members have worked on including a small arduino crawling robot, a large arduino-driven LED array, and some examples of movie and video game props.

The third Omaha Mini Maker Faire, hosted by Do Space in partnership with Metropolitan Community College and the Omaha Maker Group, is April 15, 2017 at Do Space. Doors open to the public at 9AM and the Faire runs until 4PM. The Mini Maker Faire is FREE and fun for all ages!
