In the spirit of the “Humans of New York” photo series and social media phenomenon, Do Space is inspired to work with staff and volunteers to create a “Humans of Do Space” series that shares the stories of our members, volunteers, users and staff. The goal of this effort it to capture the people that are using the space and how it affects their lives. What does it allow them to do? What does it allow them to make? How are people using the space to overcome obstacles and get things done?

Today we are featuring Marlon Emmanuel.  Marlon is an entrepreneur, as well as the Owner, Founder and President of Mydestinati, a non profit organisation, and the Omaha International Soccer League. Originally from Nigeria, he has lived in Omaha the last 18 years. Our staff met Marlon in the 3D Lab and started a conversation about the organisation he founded and directs called the Omaha International Soccer League. Marlon is a regular at Do Space that can often be seen collaborating and working with others on the various roles he has in Omaha.

What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about ministry and maximising opportunities around me and bringing out their very best in people. My other passion is being a coach and mentor in all of my roles.

What does Do Space mean to you?
Do Space is a great resource center in technology and has enabled me to network with creative people. It has also been a place for me to hold meeting as an office center. It has also been great for my kids as a learning resource.

What have you been able to accomplish at Do Space?
I’ve been able to use the technology available from Macs to PCs to meeting rooms and also get various work tasks done due to up-to-date software available. My kids have also used the tech kits and computers available.

How does Do Space empower you to grow individually or grow your company?
Do Space is ahead of the curve in creating and nurturing an environment for creative minds with purpose and drive. In this sense it has empowered me as an individual and my organisation and from my observations many people around me. I am very impressed in the programs on offer for youth, adults and seniors. I find this to be very inclusive.

What tools and resources are you using at Do Space?
I use Microsoft applications, PCs, laptops, and Audio Visual equipment in the meeting rooms for presentations. In terms of future resources I would like to do the Laser Cutting and Adobe Illustrator courses available as I am also a sketch artist.
