Meet Volunteer Mandy Becker

Do Space would not be possible without all the volunteers that contribute to our programs and assisting our members. They are the pulse of everything we do and give us the ability to offer members help in all different kinds of skills. The goal of this effort it to capture and share the people that are volunteering at Do Space and how it positively affects their lives. What led them to volunteer? What sort of impact are they making? And why they continue to contribute?
Mandy has been an Advocate and Explorer with Do Space since we opened in November of 2015! Mandy is a Senior Information Developer for a local company.
What led you to volunteer at Do Space?
When I saw the Do Space mission, I knew I wanted to be involved. I like learning about technology and working with others, so this was a great fit.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering at Do Space?
I love how the community has embraced Do Space. The enthusiasm is contagious.
What position do you hold at Do Space and how does it contribute towards Do Space mission?
I’m currently an “Explorer” for Tech Help Tuesday. I hope our members feel empowered to use the skills they have learned to find jobs, communicate with their families, and be ready for the future.
When was a time that you felt like you made a difference and really helped a member?
Every week at Tech Help Tuesday! I love it when somebody conquered their fear of technology.
What is something you would tell a friend that is thinking about volunteering?
You do not have to be a computer wizard to help someone learn a new skill.
