If there is one thing Omaha excels at it’s supporting its non-profits! Nothing shows this more than the upcoming Omaha Gives! donation event. Don’t know what this event is all about? Let me break it down for you:

Omaha Gives! is an all online giving celebration that allows you to shower your favorite non-profits with some much needed assistance. This year’s event will be held on Wednesday May 20th, for just 24 hours. This charitable challenge is only made possible through you – the INCREDIBLE, DYNAMIC, AMAZING, KIND people of Omaha! Please visit our Omaha Gives! page by clicking here.

During this time of COVID-19 our building has been closed to the public, but we have been hard at work! All our classes, and some newly created ones too, have been moved online to webinars. These free webinars have reached almost 2,000 people in just 2 months!

Also, we have established a new way  for you to contact our tech staff through ‘online tech help chat’ found on every page of our website. Every day, during regular business hours, you can ask a live technologist your tech questions – as I did when I couldn’t get my zoom chat to work!

We also have been focusing on how to best help Omaha boost their job skills. We are posting to blogs, social media, YouTube videos, and more with dedicated content on helping those who are currently out of work or those looking to add more to their skill tool kit.

And for those who do not have WIFI or internet access at home we have opened our parking lot to the public. This way you can easily be safe and socially distant while gaining access to free wifi right outside our building. We were even in the New York Times about this service!

In return if you would like to support Do Space during this difficult time there are 3 easy and great ways you can do that!

You can give a monetary donation starting now and through May 20th on our page at Omaha Gives! The donations start off at just $10; a $10 gift and you can tell everyone you are a renowned philanthropist! Last year over 75% of all donations made were under $100, so whatever you can give is so very appreciated. If you are able to give more than the $10 then that’s great, too! Every little bit truly helps Do Space in our mission to make technology accessible to everyone in our community.

Another way to give on May 20th is to create a ‘Cheer Page!’. Omaha Gives! cheer pages are there to help spread the word about Do Space to your friends and family on social media. All you need to do is click here and go to ‘Cheer Page!’ and follow the prompts to create a shareable page that will direct others to give to Do Space, too. Any and all social media shout-outs help your donations go even further. If you can, remember to use the hashtags #DoSpaceOmaha and #OmahaGives.

Finally, one last way you can spread the charitable love on Omaha Gives! is to simply follow us on our social media platforms! Following us on places like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn helps you stay connected with us. Every new follow on social media supports Do Space.

We are so very grateful to be a part of the Omaha community and to have over 81,000 members! Remember, Do Space membership, programs, webinars, and tech help are all free because we are part of a generous community that made free technology and learning for all a priority.
