Who says the holidays can’t be high tech? Do Space is hosting several fun, free events for the Omaha metro community throughout the holiday season to learn practical applications of technology in everyday life – from gift wrapping to learning to use a new device to entertaining the kids on break.

Come warm up at Do Space with a cup of coffee and our free gigabit of bandwidth, and consider bringing the family to one of the following events!

  • Big Littles Lab: From Scientific Method to Holiday Ornament | Wednesdays in December, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
    This month we’ll use the scientific method to make a holiday ornament. Each student will learn the steps of the scientific method and be able to demonstrate it. This class is designed for 6-8 year olds and their parents/guardians. This class will consist of the same content for every Wednesday in December. REGISTER

  • Personalizing Gifts With A Laser Cutter | December 12, 6 to 8 p.m.
    Looking for a heartfelt Christmas gift but running out of time before the holidays? Learn how to customize gifts with monograms, graphics and more by creating and modifying designs for our laser cutter. In this class you’ll learn the basics of cutting and etching designs on paper, wood and more. Safe for beginners! REGISTER

  • Holiday Photoshop: Touching Up Family Photos | December 20 & 27, 6 to 8 p.m.
    The holidays are a time for family, food, cheer and maybe a selfie or two or three. Learn how to retouch, color, manipulate and enhance your family and holiday photos with Adobe Photoshop, the popular photo-editing software. Use your newfound skills to customize or retouch photos, old and new, and share with family and friends during the holidays! REGISTER

  • Unwrapped: Getting Acquainted With Your New Tech Gifts | December 26, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
    Did you receive a fabulous smartphone, tablet, Amazon Echo or other piece of technology as a holiday gift but are completely baffled as to how to get started with it? Don’t let that stop you! Come by Do Space the day after Christmas to get some free basic setup assistance with our friendly staff and volunteers, who will help you track down online tutorials and other useful tidbits about using your new device. No registration required

  • Winter Tech Kit Wonderland | December 27, 28 & 29, 1 to 3 p.m.
    We’re turning Do Space into a winter tech wonderland for families during the holiday break. Come enjoy and experience the best tech kits we have had to offer during 2016, no checkout required. Kids and their families can drop in any time between 1 and 3 p.m. to play with our favorite coding robots, LEGO WeDo robots, the Codepillar, Makey Makey, and others – the more, the merrier! No registration required

And an important reminder! Early Bird Access at Do Space launched on December 1. Do Space will be open at 7 a.m. Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m. Saturday-Sunday, for all you early risers. Grab a cup or coffee or breakfast, get some work done, read the news, or meet up with colleagues for a morning meeting in a new, refreshing space (complete with our free gigabit of bandwidth).
