Look what just arrived: Do Space Summer Passports!
For several months, the Do Space program team has been working on a way to make summer learning at Do Space even more fun and exciting. We started with the classic idea of a passport and, along with help from the creative team at Fruitful Design, we can finally show you the finished product. It looks even better in person!
Here’s how it works:
Come to Do Space to pick up your Summer Passport. It comes on a lanyard so it’s easy to hang around your neck or from your backpack. You can pick up your Passport anytime starting today. Better yet, come by on Thursday, May 25th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and pick up your Passport at our Summer Kickoff Open House, when you’ll also be able to preview some of our summer programs while you’re at it. Do Space is open until 9:00 pm Monday – Friday and until 7:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Just like traditional passports, your Do Space Summer Passport will be used to keep track of your experiences by using stamps. We have six different stamps designed by Fruitful and created at Do Space using our laser cutter:
- Learn – attend a Do Space program
- Wonder – try a reading or maker activity from Camp.Wonderopolis.org, a free website for summer learning
- Code – complete a tutorial or attend a coding class
- Make – attend a Maker Monday session or a Jr. Makers class
- Share – show the world what you do at Do Space on our website IHeartDoSpace.org
- Explore – check out a Tech Kit or attend a drop-in session
There are tons of ways to earn stamps! You can add one per category per day to your Passport from May to July. Attend a Littles Lab class – get a Learn stamp! Attend a new Maker Monday drop-in session – get a Make stamp! Complete a game or tutorial on HourofCode.org – get a Code stamp! Add a photo of your latest project on IHeartDoSpace.org – get a Share stamp! Try the Raspberry Pi Tech Kit – get an Explore stamp!
At the end of the summer, submit the final page of your completed Passport for a chance to win a prize in your age group.
- Ages 5 and under: Code-a-pillar
- Ages 6-12: Makey-Makey Go
- Ages 13-18: Raspberry Pi
We can’t wait to see what you’ll DO at Do Space this summer!
