Matthew Madsen is a home theater installation specialist who enjoyes spending his free time at Do Space, either in the 3D Lab making things or as a Volunteer. Originally from Anita, IA, Madsen came to Omaha in 1998. Matthew definitely likes to build and fix things and is usually working on a unique maker project here at Do Space.  Staff are always curious just what he is creating next and so we sat down with him for a few minutes to ask him some more questions.

What are you passionate about?

Creating and fixing things

What does Do Space mean to you?

A place to hang out, a place to create, and a place to help others create. It has also become a place where my wife and I can hang out together.

What have you been able to accomplish at Do Space?

Friendships. I’ve also created wall hangings using the laser cutter. I’ve also created parts for my CNC machine using both the laser cutter and the 3D printers.

ABOUT HUMANS OF DO SPACE
In the spirit of the “Humans of New York” photo series and social media phenomenon, Do Space is inspired to work with staff and volunteers to create a “Humans of Do Space” series that shares the stories of our members, volunteers, users and staff. The goal of this effort it to capture the people that are using the space and how it affects their lives. What does it allow them to do? What does it allow them to make? How are people using the space to overcome obstacles and get things done?
