Do Space Tech Pack Program

The Challenge

According to the latest 5-year U.S. Census Bureau, (2016-2020), 12.6% (73,650) Douglas County households do not have broadband internet access, and 7.7% (45,008) Douglas County households do not have a computer. Households without a computer are more likely to use a smartphone to complete computing tasks, however smartphone only access does not offer users the computing functionality necessary to fully participate in a digital society.

The Opportunity

Do Space is proud to offer the Tech Pack program as a means to support digital equity in Omaha, by distributing laptops and Wi-Fi hotspots to 945 Omaha residents. Tech Pack participants will also receive free internet access (June 30, 2022 – June 29,2023), free computer basics training and one on one technology tutoring.  The goal of this program is to meet the remote learning and work needs of Omaha residents.  The data collected from this program will enable Do Space to create the first digital equity report for the city of Omaha, which will raise awareness of local challenges and highlight success stories.  This opportunity is supported by the Emergency Connectivity Fund and free for Omaha residents 18 and older only.

Why should you Participate?

Digital inclusion is necessary for civic and cultural participation, employment, lifelong learning, and access to essential services.  Without access to the necessary resources, it is impossible to fully participate in our digital society. If you are in need of a laptop, Wi-Fi internet connectivity and digital literacy classes, we encourage you to apply.
