Do Space is celebrating our first year of being open and you’re invited! Join us on Thursday, November 10 from 4:30-8:00PM for anniversary festivities where we will provide the food and fun to celebrate our first year of accomplishments and achievements at Do Space. We will have giveaways, prize drawings, and a variety of activities for all ages to enjoy.  Our activities include revisiting our favorite tech kits and 3D Lab machines and unveiling our newest additions, our Minecraft Universe and resin 3D printer.

4:30-6:00PM – Do Space Minecraft Universe Launch – Meeting Rooms
Love Minecraft? You can’t miss the launch of Do Space’s very own Minecraft world! Do Space staff will introduce and orient members to the new Do Space Minecraft server. Let’s explore together!

4:30-8:00PM – Robot Driving School – Teen Room
Test your skills with our Dash robots and see if you can code your way through our obstacle course!

5:00-7:00PM – Laser Cutter Demonstration – 3D Lab
Learn about the hardware available to use at Do Space and see a live demonstration of our popular Universal Laser Cutter given by one of our volunteers! We will have our favorite items on display.

5:00-7:00PM – 3D Printing Demonstration – Large Conference Room
Come see our Taz-5 3D printer and our brand-new resin printer in action! Volunteers will demonstrate how to use our iSense scanner to scan objects to 3D print, and a Do Space Technologist will be on hand to talk about the 3D printing process and answer any questions you may have.

5:00-8:00PM  Social Area – MCC Public Area
The main hub of our anniversary celebration is chock full of fun distractions, including:

      • Our Give Away Table and Refreshments
      • Prize Drawings Members can register to win a Super Swag bag
      • A display of interesting graphics like “A Day at Do Space” and more.
      • Table Talks where Volunteers will have the opportunity to talk about their experiences at Do Space, from one-on-one mentoring to the friendly folks who help make Hello Code and Cyber Seniors possible.

5:00-8:00PM Tech Kit Play Zones – MCC Public Area
Enjoy some open, unstructured playtime with a variety of our technology activity kits–no checkout required! We have everything from kid-friendly kits like Makey Makey, Cubelets and Codepillar to the more advanced Raspberry Pi, Eggbot, and Google Cardboard.

6:00-8:00PM: What Do Space Means to Me – Small Conference Room
Why do you like coming to Do Space? Do you feel that Do Space has made an impact on your life? What do you think the future holds? Members can sign up for a short timeslot in a cozy classroom to record and share via iPad why they like coming to Do Space, how Do Space has changed their lives, and what Do Space has meant to them over the last year both as individuals as well as members of the Omaha community. Don’t know how to get started with the equipment or what to talk about? No worries! Our friendly staff is on hand to facilitate.
