Do Space Coronavirus Update
March 15th, 2020 | Weston Thomson, Director of Community Learning
Do Space cares deeply about the health and safety of the Omaha community. We are closely monitoring emerging information regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). As always, the health and safety of our members and our staff is our number one priority.
Do Space will be closed Sunday March 15 at noon, and remain closed to the public through the end of day on Sunday, March 22nd.
In addition to this closure, Do space will take the following actions to ensure we maintain a comfortable and healthy space for everyone:
- We encourage members and staff to stay home if they are sick.
- We wash our hands regularly with soap and water, and we follow hand washing etiquette instructions which are posted in every restroom.
- Members are encouraged to use disinfecting wipes before and after using equipment.
- Staff engage in routine cleaning throughout the day.
- The Do Space after-hours cleaning crew uses a germicidal cleaner which destroys bacteria, fungus, and viruses.
Social distancing is also a way to minimize possible exposure to an illness. In order to introduce social distancing in our building during the COVID-19 outbreak, Do Space has temporarily limited the following services until at least March 27:
- At this time, members are not allowed at Do Space unless they are actively using a computer in our computer lab. In order to create distance between members, every other computer is unavailable.
- Members are asked to disinfect equipment before and after use. Disinfecting supplies will be provided by Do Space staff.
- Littles Lab, Active Learning Lab, meeting rooms, and open seating are closed to the public.
- All programs and events are cancelled.
Do Space takes direction from state and local health officials, and follows the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidance to businesses and employers on best practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Do Space computer lab remains open during normal business hours. Please reach out to us any time via phone at 402-819-4022 or via email at hello@dospace.org if you have questions.
