The Do Space Senior Makers Club is a hands-on, project-based program for members 55+. Senior Makers will create a project that uses some aspect of cutting-edge technology. Some months Senior Makers will be hands-on with the equipment and software, and other months the projects will use different tech to give the Makers an idea of what they could design as they complete the project at hand. Classes are designed to provide unique learning opportunities with a new project featured every month. No experience is required.
This Month's Project: Learn basic Adobe Illustrator to find a clip art image or mandala that you can import into Illustrator, add text or resize as needed, and then staff will laser etch the image onto a cork coaster for you to pick up later! (If we have time, we can start laser etching during class, but this will depend on how detailed the Makers get with their design time.)
Please bring your Adobe password, if you have one, or your Gmail or Facebook password, as all users are now required to log into Adobe Illustrator.
Please note that we will not have time to go over safety, materials, and how to run the equipment during this Senior Makers. If you are interested in learning to safely use the equipment to design your own projects, we recommend you take one of our ULS Laser Cutter Training Sessions, or Glowforge Basics. You also may be interested in the in-depth Illustrator for Laser Cutter Files class.
Membership cards are required for entry into Do Space classes and programs, so please bring your Do Space card with you to class. As part of our programs and events, attendees may be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes, such as social media, informational presentions, and on-site signage. Please let your program host know if this is of concern, and thank you for your support of Do Space.
