Mystery Code Society: Intro to Mobile Application Development

Have you wanted to learn to code but didn't know how to start? Or maybe you've taken the coding classes your school has to offer, but you're excited to learn something new?

This spring, Mystery Code Society is offering Intro to Mobile Application Development, a free coding class at Do Space for middle and high school students, with preference for students of marginalized gender.

In this class, students will achieve a basic understanding of the structure of an Android app. By the end of this 10-week course, students will be able to apply what they learn to build a simple Android app of their own. 

When/Where:
This 10-week course meets at Do Space on Sundays from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm, from February 12 through April 30, with no class on March 12 or April 9.  This class is in-person.  The last day of class will be our class graduation celebration! 

Applications are due by January 29, 2023.  We will inform students of the status of their application by January 31.

Who Should Apply:

• This class is for middle and high school students, with a preference for students of marginalized gender. However, all students are encouraged to apply.
• Participants do NOT need extensive prior coding experience OR a computer of their own to take this class. 
• We expect knowledge of code fundamentals (data types, variables, conditionals, loops, and functions).

**** COVID information ****
This class plans to meet in person. Masks are welcomed but not required. We ask all students and staff who are not feeling well to stay home, and there is no penalty for missing class due to sickness. We will be following all CDC guidelines for contact tracing and quarantining in the event of an outbreak. If there is an outbreak, classes might be canceled or delayed.
