Today we'll learn how to take a cheap sketch pad and make an awesome customized sketchbook that makes a great gift (for yourself!)

Want to follow along at home?

You'll need the following:

  • a new 8.5×11 or larger spiral bound sketchbook. Pick something with a nice thick cardboard backing.
  • pretty paper to decorate the cover
  • white school glue
  • a cheap paint brush that you can use with glue
  • A small awl or something sharp to poke small holes
  • an embordiery needle or other needle with a larger eye
  • unwaxed linen thread meant for book binding or perle cotton embroidery floss (Basically something thicker than regular sewing thread)
  • binder clips
  • scissors
  • xacto knife
  • ruler
  • a bone folder (optional)

This is an all ages program, but kiddos under 12 may need some help from an adult since it involves using sharp objects.
